Lelle Floris ist ein aus Ghilarza stammender sardischer Handwerker und gehört zur inzwischen dritten Generation einer in Sardinien sehr bekannten Familie von Messerschmieden und Büchsenmachern. Schon in jungen Jahren begann er mit dem Bau von verschiedensten Messern mit einer Vorliebe für Stilette, Springermesser und für historische - sowohl italienische als auch spanische - Messer aus verschiedenen Perioden der letzten zwei Jahrhunderte. Die Anfertigung vor allem dieser Messer ist das Ergebnis einer sorgfältigen Studie der Originale und ihrer Größe, Materialien, Gewicht sowie der verwendeten Konstruktionstechniken. Die Arbeitsschritte ahmen getreu diejenigen der damaligen Handwerker nach. Für die Klinge wählt er natürlich Kohlenstoffstahl, um die unverwechselbare Patina antiker Klingen zu haben, die im Laufe der Jahre gebildet wird. Für die Griffe werden nur natürliche Materialien verwendet, wie Knochen, Hörner, Elfenbein und Holz. Der Einsatz von Maschinen beschränkt sich ausschließlich auf eine Tischbohrmaschine und wenige andere, der Rest wird mit einfachen Werkzeugen komplett von Hand erledigt.
